Let's not wind up baby wipes. Motherhood isn't always easy. There, I said it.
Do you ever feel like you are failing as a mother?
The intention is of course to ensure that your children do not lack anything. But the frantic efforts to make this happen can lead to frustration.
As a mother you are constantly busy with all sorts of things. Keeping the entire household running is quite a job.
Sometimes this makes us forget a very important part of motherhood; Taking care of yourself!
In between busy schedules, it is important to make time for yourself and listen to your own needs.
If you don't make yourself a priority, stress, fatigue or even burnout can result.
Putting yourself at the top of the priority list applies to every individual, but for mothers in particular this is of course even more important.
A happy mother is a happy child. To be a happy mother, making time for yourself is not a luxury.
We think it is important to share valuable tips with our fellow moms. We are all in the same boat after all. In this series we share 5 simple self-care tips for moms today.
Self-care is one of the hippest concepts these days. But make no mistake, it is not a hype that flies over with time, because afterwards we all plunge into the next craze. Nor is it an unnecessary luxury - especially not when you are a mother.
Self-care is hugely underestimated and seen by many mothers as unnecessary or an option. When should you as a mother even make time for self-care and how do you do this without feeling guilty? As a mother, can you take time for yourself? After all, you chose to take on the challenge of motherhood, didn't you?
I know these thoughts all too well. When I became a mother myself, I didn't think self-care was important at all. I also didn't realize that taking care of myself was directly related to taking care of my baby. Now I am a seasoned mother and I can tell you the following about it:
At least that's how it feels. Because being burned out yourself and restraining a hyper toddler leads to the most not-so-hilarious scenarios. So today are 5 tips to avoid these kinds of situations.
Especially for all moms: 5 simple self-care tips:
I mean like, all the way! We may be limited at the moment when it comes to getting massages, going to the mani/pedi or being pampered by a beautician, but that shouldn't spoil the fun. Get delicious do-it-yourself packages and take it from them. A foot bath and a face mask can really do wonders.
Offline really, is the new luxury. Social media sometimes seems like a form of relaxation, but it can also be a huge trigger. We often pick up our phone without really knowing why. Suddenly we are a few hours further scrolling. Grab a good book - my preference is a wonderful novel - and stay away from the online world for a while.
Binging your favorite series unabashedly for an evening is also a form of self-care. Make it extra cozy by going all out with snacks, candles and everything that makes you feel extra chill. Bingen is all the way self care! PS. Homeland, Top Boy and How to get away with murder are highly recommended!
Saying no is a great form of self-care.
We sometimes tend to be constantly available to everyone and say yes to everything. Every yes to another, however, is a big 'NO' to yourself.
Self-care is saying no to others, so that you create more time and space for yourself. Try to do this without feeling guilty. You are not obliged to always be 'on'. Besides that, you need yourself more than others need you. Take that from me!
During Corona it is made more difficult for everyone to be able to schedule an old-fashioned, fun evening with your girls. Fortunately, the technology is there and we can now meet via Whatsapp. Self-care can also be a pleasant evening with your girls, even if it is at a distance. Complain about trivial things, share experiences with each other, clear your mind and laugh non-stop. Not being busy with being a mom for a while is very good for being a mom.
Taking care of myself has truly allowed me to be a nicer, more patient and above all a happier mother. If you don't do it for yourself, do it for your kids, because like I said:A happy mom is a happy kid!”
That's what we're all ultimately aiming for, right? Have fun applying these tips!
